Description

This nostalgic fruit cocktail recipe is a fun, colorful, and easy dessert that comes together with just a few pantry staples. Cool, refreshing, and bursting with fruity flavor, it's a perfect treat for family dinners, parties, or summer picnics.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (3-ounce) package flavored gelatin mix (such as strawberry Jello)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can fruit cocktail, 1/4 cup juice reserved
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Add the flavored gelatin mix to a medium bowl and pour in 1 cup boiling water. Stir for 1–2 minutes until dissolved.
  2. Add ½ cup cold water and the reserved ¼ cup fruit cocktail juice. Stir gently.
  3. Drain the canned fruit cocktail and stir it into the gelatin mixture.
  4. Place the bowl in the fridge uncovered and chill for 5 hours. Stir gently after 3 hours to redistribute the fruit.
  5. Once fully set, serve in dessert cups or straight from the bowl with a large spoon.

Notes

Use a metal spoon to dissolve the gelatin faster. Stir halfway through chilling for even fruit distribution. For variations, try different flavored gelatin or fruits like berries or pineapple. Store covered in the fridge and enjoy within 3 days.
